Caring Corner 2020- Let’s Talk About All Deets
With Caring Corner being virtual, the clubs’ support is more critical than ever! At this time, we are asking each club to prepare a basket for our silent auction and a suggested donation of $250.
These contributions support our SLPs: Circle K, Key Club, Aktion Club, Builders Club, and K-Kids. These programs are the pride and joy of Kiwanis and set Kiwanis apart from other service organizations!
Through our SLPs, young Floridians are able to learn and exercise leadership principles. Kiwanis is committed to building and developing leaders who care about service; leaders who aspire to change the world. These donated funds support our SLPs by providing grants and educational support to these groups.
With that said, we will be taking time over the next few weeks to answer your questions!
Question:
“Would you be so kind as to give us an idea how the funds FKF raises is applied and/or available to benefit our SLPs?”
Answer: Currently, FKF provides annual grant opportunities for SLPs. Last year was the first year FKF implemented an application for the SLPs to complete and submit for review. This new process was put in place for accountability purposes. This year a reminder email was sent to the administrators of Key Club, K Kids, Builders Club, and Aktion in April. A copy of the application is attached below for your reference. These applications can be submitted at this time, but no later than September 1, 2020.
Florida Kiwanis Foundation budget the following amounts for Service Leadership Programs for the 2019-2020 year:
Key Club $20,500
Builders Club $2,000
Aktion Club $5,000
K-Kids $2,000
These funds are for training purposes. For example, a grant has been awarded to Key Club for their Key Club District Board Training Meetings conducted three times per year. It is FKF’s mission to service the children of Florida and these grants provide the funding/ opportunities for children to learn and exercise their leadership principles within our Serve Leadership Clubs.
