Through your Florida Kiwanis Foundation Mini Grant Program, Kiwanis Clubs across Florida are finding creative ways to make reading and literacy more accessible to children and families in their communities.
And this year, the numbers tell a wonderful story.

Of our 47 Mini Grants, 14 supported literacy, reading, or library projects. That’s nearly 1 in every 3 Mini Grants!
Those projects include:
10 Library & Little Library Projects | $7,500 Invested
From creating new Little Libraries to refurbishing existing ones and expanding access to books, Kiwanis Clubs are helping make reading available right where children live, learn, and play.
4 Additional Literacy & Reading Projects | $3,000 Invested
These projects are supporting young readers through early literacy programs, reading kits, new-reader initiatives, and other creative ways to encourage children to pick up a book and discover something new.
Small Grants Can Open BIG Doors
Together, that’s 14 projects and $10,500 invested in literacy—nearly 30% of all Mini Grants awarded.
But the impact is about much more than numbers.
A Little Library can become a child’s first opportunity to choose a book of their very own. A reading kit can help a new reader build confidence. A literacy program can introduce a child to a story that sparks a lifelong love of learning.
That’s the beauty of local Kiwanis service. Clubs see what their communities need, develop an idea, and get to work.
