Greetings,
You know the old saying… it’s not over until it’s over. That is certainly the case for this year’s hurricane season, and Floridians are counting down the days until November 30. However, there is no guarantee that date will signal the real end of the hurricane storms.
As Florida is in the midst of stabilizing after Hurricane Helene, there is another storm on the horizon. Hurricane Milton has strengthened into a massive and powerful Category 3 hurricane, estimated to hit Florida this Thursday. With the current estimation, there will be a large portion of Florida impacted by this incredibly large and dangerous storm. Many are starting to evacuate their homes, especially on the west coast of Florida, which received massive storm surges just weeks ago. They are fearful of the damage they will come home to.
Over the past two weeks, your Florida Kiwanis Foundation has been receiving disaster/emergency grant requests to aid Florida’s children and families affected by Hurricane Helene. These requests are quickly reviewed, and feedback is provided. If you are interested in learning more about these efforts and available grant funding, please continue to read more on our website. For those who have wondered what a sample emergency grant request may look like, we have included one with this email.
We have been working together over the past two weeks, and we are deeply humbled by your support shown to our Disaster/Emergency Relief efforts. This support is greatly appreciated and is making a significant impact on helping children right here at home. If you have not yet contributed but would like to do so today, please find a few easy ways to give below.
